user reviews of the Woolpack, Almondbury

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

TT Landlord, Doom Bar and Copper Dragon's Golden Pippin were on offer today. I had the last: crystal clear and a delight.

There were also six types of pork pie, but not including Melton Mowbray. There didn't seem to be much else in the way of food, but they were all that was needed as a snack.

Two pies, and a pint and a half came to £8.30.

The staff were pleasant and friendly.

Given the largely well heeled surroundings of Almondbury, the interior perhaps looked a bit dated and tired: carpeted single room, gaming machines and a TV, but comfortable.

In need of a refurb, and a rethink of the pricing policy. For what this place is it's horrendously expensive given the beers are very average. Good people behind the bar though and they throw a hell of a new years eve party. If they dropped the prices or improved the quality it would be a really good pub. Pleasant mix of local folk and a lot friendlier than other pubs in the village.

Now added Copper Dragon, but the Sky Sports has gone

Coaching inn style pub - I suspect the Con club next door (dated 1631) was part of the same building complex. Pleasant beer garden to the rear, Sky sports, 3 real ales (Tetleys, Ruddles County and Bombardier). A little pricier than its neighbours.
