user reviews of the Radcliffe Arms, Almondbury

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Unfortunately, lack of demand has reduced the number of hand pulled beers from 3 to 2; Marsdon's is the regular, with an interesting mix of guest beers from around the UK on the other. The third engine is still there, so there is still hope that it will come back online. The pool table returned at the start of 2012, and is proving very popular. Friday and Saturday nights are lively and popular, with either a DJ or Video Jukebox, on other evenings it servers its purpose as a decent local. Calling it "...the hangout of local yobs and overpriced" is unfair, the local "lads" are friendly, and always have time to talk to you; I have never seen any trouble at The Rad or even the suggestion of it brewing. I agree the beer isn't cheap, but it is up to 40p cheaper than its nearest competition.

Don't know where the previous review is coming from, had the pleasure of visiting this pub recently,3 cask beers all well kept, pub & toilets very clean, good atmosphere, open fires.I'd say great example of a village pub and certainly the best in that village..............must have been the local yobs night off but suspect they might have moved on since the pool table has gone !

Recently refurbed to look like grannys dining room, this place seems to be the hangout of local yobs and overpriced average tasting beers. They've recently got rid of the pool table (my last excuse for going there). This pub has a slightly hostile feel about it which is a shame as Almondbury is really lacking a great boozer. This used to be it but it's struggling.

Jennings Cumberland has replaced the Burtonwood, but otherwise much the same.
