Basic, slightly tatty pub in an unattractive area with no shops or housing, but close to the Saints stadium, so absolutely heaving on match days with home and away supporters. Normally no cask beer, but two gravity casks available on match days. I liked the atmosphere when visiting before the Saints v Liverpool game, but I can't see myself coming here at any other time.

Understand that the Irish Tri-colour was flown outside the pub during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. If that is the case this pub should be avoided. What was wrong with flying the Union Flag? Or the Cross of St. George. For the owners of the pub show some loyalty to your country.

This pub is a rare gem. The sort of pub where the locals make this pub what it is. Looks like new owners have moved in as Mrs Whiplash is no longer behind the bar being followed around by lerch. Good choice of beers. Good pool table and darts board. Got a great open firre with comfy sofa's for the winter.

This pub is not on Albert Road South, I think it's Albert Road North, on the other side of the bridge.

A very friendly welcome early on a Saturday lunchtime, when I was walking around Southampton. No football on that day, but this felt very much like a locals pub and the overall atmosphere was one which encouraged me to return. Don't knock it, its the pick of the bunch in the area.
