Beautiful village. Typical Olde English pub. Good on a beautiful summers day. Muzzy - 18 May 2012 16:12 |
Just been re-furbished...lovely welcome, lovely food and first class ale...can't fault the place...well done...great place.... Smifffy64 - 7 Mar 2011 20:04 |
Having had the George and Dragon recommended to me, I was disappointed on my visit. Although the beer was reasonably well kept, little else impressed. The menu looked like hearty fare, but when the food arrived it was disappointingly below average. The sausages which I was served were tasteless and had a bizarre synthetic texture - they also seemed to release a lot of air when cut open! I like a traditional pub interior, but feel that the G&D is overdone on this score, achieving a very oppressive atmosphere coupled with quite dark lighting in the lounge area. The toilets were also unpleasant. This is a shame, as Great Budworth is a beautiful village, and I enjoyed visiting the village itself - if only the G&D upped it's game a bit. on my visit to england my family took us to the george and dragon, we were not too impressed with the service at the bar so we did not stay for lunch. apachejunctionkid - 15 Jun 2009 21:18 |
Beautiful location. Have been going to this pub occasionally for years. Won't be making the trip specially any more. Now has a listless and unloved feel. Where once there was a perfectly kept pint of TT Landlord to look forward to, now it's ordinary beers and cynically churned out food (a very tough lamb knuckle, mash & veg irradiated in the microwave before it hit the table). No competition nearby. JerryKS - 17 Feb 2009 11:42 |
