Traditional pub brought back to life as a 'gastro pub', choice of 3 real ales with 2 from Locale breweries. Very busy on the lunchtime I visited, with people both drinking and eating. Large menu with plenty of good choice at to be honest for the area decent prices. My belly of pork and 2 pints of Knights of the Realm from the Windsor & Eton brewery was very good. Attractive & attentive bar staff add to the whole package of this very good pub in the heart of historic Shepherds Market. Upstairs dining room which I can imagine gets booked up very quickly. Thoroughly decent pub that should be visited. lezford - 9 Jul 2013 16:24 |
Went here for a cheeky after work pint-what I find! Easily the best pub in the area with a brilliant selection of beers. The staff knew what they were on about too! Will definitely be back for more! Thegirlwhelan - 16 Jun 2013 13:04 |
Cosy pub with a good atmosphere and a very good selection of beers - the Monsoon IPA was great, they also had a few white beers. The food looked decent. Foghorn1 - 3 Mar 2013 22:11 |
A far better place than Ye Grapes or Kings Arms across the road. Doombar (is there a pub in London that doesn't offer this?) Sambrooks and Itchen Valley. 3.70 a pint but at least the glasses were full without having to ask for a top up and the staff were polite and efficient. Quality was Ok, cheshirecat - 27 Aug 2012 08:38 |
Popped in last night for a quick one. This pub seems to have changed personality many times over the years but I like what has been done recently. The pub was fairly quiet but this was only a Tuesday night so understandable. I had a good pint of Brewdog 5AM Saint - from the tap so presumably a keg but very good and a great alternative to a cask real ale. Other interesting beers were available on draught and in bottles so I will probably go back to try a few more. The food looked tempting too. a_cheeky_half - 5 Oct 2011 22:27 |
