The main downside of The Marigold, for me, is that the regular barflies like the sound of their own voices (bad languange is not an optional extra) too much and assume that others will too. The main plus side is that it never seems to get busy, so it is our default boozer when everywhere else is busy. While this may seem like a backhanded compliment, we often enjoy our visits to The Marigold. It's a shame their solitary cask beer comes from the Greene King range, therefore it is often bland. But maybe that's appropriate.... vicpark - 14 Jan 2014 11:03 |
As has been said before, a really good mix of old school Bermondsey characters and professionals in their thirties in suits Good atmosphere, mood lighting cheap prices and a cracking pint of Guinness. Will return. AlistairVonLion - 15 Aug 2013 14:41 |
Very friendly, traditional community pub. Mixed crowd on a Tuesday night. Good pibt of Caley Flyibg Scotsman, the sole, changing guest.jI curioushistory - 10 Apr 2012 20:54 |
This pub now serves real ale, and has done for several weeks. They only have one hand pump, but it changes beer weekly. They have a Wii in the corner, fruit machines, poker machine, two Sky TVs, a dart board, and a Juke Box. They have a good social atmosphere, with a football team, and low stakes Champions League Poker on Thursday nights. I like the place, and even though I live over a mile away, and there are other pubs nearer, The Hand and Marigold has become by local. JonRobinson - 8 May 2009 13:21 |
Decent Bermondsey hostelry. No real ale. Friendly enough. terenced - 12 Dec 2008 12:17 |
