I have visited this pub on and off because of its location for 40 yrs. It was better as 2 pubs but hey ho thats progress. It is a bit rough and the GK beer is seriously rubbish but it has its charm and the view out of the window is great. Food best avoided though. odbod - 9 Apr 2019 11:10 |
I didn't realise that this was a greene king pub, otherwise I wouldn't have gone in. There is no GK signage outside and they didn't sell any GK beers. Only the small print on the menu gave the game away and by then it was too late. Could it be that even greene king pubs realise GK beer is crap? Maybe, or maybe not; I had a pint of some stuff that was sour and had to be changed, the replacement was only just drinkable, so maybe the problem is with GK managers would never seem to have a clue. For those not interested in the beer, this is in a nice position just outside the historic docks (HMS Victory & Warrior) and it's a nice looking building, inside is full of sky tv and fruit machines and some of the regulars looked well dodgy. The food; as previously mentioned looks crap judging by the menu, with the aforementioned Pizza burger taking pride of place. There must be better pubs nearby. cellarbuoy - 30 Dec 2016 20:45 |
Went in here yesterday and had a very good pint of Workie Ticket from Mordue. Other pump was Greene King IPA. Service was a bit on the slow side. The food seemed OK (Sunday Lunch) but cannot comment on the quality as I was just waiting for a friend and didn't have time to eat. Liked the pub and the atmosphere was OK. Plan to come back again paulbeckett - 5 May 2014 15:10 |
Greene King pub selling IPA & Speckled Hen. Occupies a prime position overlooking the harbour opposite the HMS Warrior. Has that chain feel, but nothing wrong with it and the bar maid when I was there was very helpful. Barrow_Beer_Hunter - 31 May 2013 14:06 |
My experience of this pub was pretty poor. The bar-boy was slow and borderline rude - he made it seem it was such an effort to serve us. Didnt bother to change a barrel, just said i should have something else. The food we had was dire. The classy menu included a "pizza burger". Wow. Locals were pretty rough too.
