I worked as a barmaid for 4months in 1979, and it was the most fun I have had in a job situation. The boss (Bob ) was good, and the beer and food excellent. I am glad to see the place is still as popular now as it was then

Amazingly different pub from what its reputation used to have many years back. By far this pub has the BEST beer in saltash - finally a pub that sells beer with life! One lady puts shamrocks and your name in the Guiness which is well neat! All the women that work there are great, full of personality and makes everyone feel welcome from regulars to new customers. (No male staff). The restuarant is now a Chinese which gives all the local take aways a run for their money as its something quite special, the staff in there too are welcoming. There are fruit machines, an Itbox, Jukebox, Darts, Pool Table, Big Screen which show all the major sports and you can play Wii on the big screen which is great fun and gets people to be interactive.
This is gradually becoming the pub to go but still people won't let its old image out of their minds. Go there you will be suprised especially as there is never any trouble unlike other pubs of today.

What a great friendly pub! all i can say is what more can you want.fab beer, friendly staff, fun atmosphere, and to top it off a fantasic chinese restaurant in the lounge.i think this pub has come along way from what it was a few years ago.

i also think the idea of putting a Wii on the wide screen is just brill! ive had many enjoyable evenings at this pub! and im sure there will be more.

I like this pub as of late, good for the football games as they are one of the only pubs in Saltash that you can guarentee catching the 'match'. Tidy and clean and a nice selection of beers.

i am a saltash girl. and do use this pub. quite often.the staff are extremely friendly, the beer is excelent, nice and clean, people in this town, should give new lanladys a chance, and stop judging everybody that moves, its a nice pub and good atmosphere, hance the rodneys quote "homemade staff and friendly food". yes i do admit the food is slightly overpriced, but at the same time, good quality and plenty of it.

new landlady, new look, by far the best pub in saltash, foods great, the staff are very friendly, worth a visit

While on first impressions the pub seems to be smart and a vast improvement on its previous incarnation, there is very little different. The landlady has encouraged the same rough elements as before and this tends to put off a lot of customers who would otherwise visit.

As for the new restaurant this is very smart and the food itself is good. We ate there three times. However on the third visit the landlady was entertaining some of her staff and cronies at the top table and one of them had a dog. Now this is not acceptable in this day and age. Another table complained and the landlady apologised and the person with the dog left, but not before making an unwarranted comment to the complainees. This says it all about the "NEW" Rodney - tarted up but still as rough as ever.

You certainly would not see this kind of behavious at the Ploughboy, Notter bridge or other well established eateries in the area.

I was majorly impressed at what a turn around this pub has made! It's SO cleaned up it's act.
Previous reputation ment I wouldn't drink here before but now I feel really comfortable bringing the family out for Sunday lunch.

I disagree with the previous comment. There is always a funny atmosphere in there, not aggressive as such, but just weird.

And the selection of beers on offer is pretty poor, I usually find myself drinking cider.

A great improvement with a new landlady. Pub is clean with very good beers and views from the lounge.

Great sports bar with home cooked food. Also wonderful restaurants with views of River Tamar and moors on the Devon and Cornwall borders.

A much improved Pub since the major refit with excellent views and food.

Here's a pub with alot of potential, most of it has already been filled though, and without improving it beyond what it is, a pub that is not quite sure if it is a seedy local boozer, or a fairly mainstream establishment offering large bookings for various events, the two combine in a slightly uneasy way. Free pool tho Mon - Wed

This pub might be reguarly good if there was ever anyone in it. As it is, it is just a standard place for including in pub crawls, and for holding birthday parties at. Other than that, the phrase "within a million miles" comes to mind.
