Went here on Sept 20th on our way home from the York Real Ale and Cider Festival. We had Everards Sunchaser, Caledonian Deuchars and Taylor's Landlord, which were all excellently kept. Didn't have the food but that wasn't the reason we paid a visit; however, the people in the vicinity of our table were very happy with theirs. This is not the first time I have stopped off here for a beer and have yet to be disappointed.

It's still as attractive and atmospheric as ever, but when I called in with a friend for lunch on Saturday the menu was just about the least imaginative I've seen in any pub since the mid Seventies! Even the "Specials Board " wasn't particularly special. There was one item on this board which appealed to me, with a note saying that included in the price was a starter from the menu - but there were no starters on the menu! We had a quick drink and moved on the excellent Castle Inn.

Such a shame: potentially, this is a brilliant pub ... one of the few in the area which still has a multiplicity of small rooms. There was a note to the effect that a new menu was "coming soon". Not soon enough!

An attractive pub tucked away down a narrow street in this historic village. Recent past has seen some ups and downs at the pub, but it warrants support. Good quality guest ales are offered and on the occasions I've tried the food it's been ok. Worth a try.

A bit disappointing. The beer was fine but the food was below average and some dishes were off. The pub seems a bit run down and needs a good clean.

The Ferry Inn, Cawood, re-opened in July 2009 and is under new Management. You will be pleased to know the pub is doing very well. Occasional live music, wine tasting evenings, themed food nights etc. There is accommodation, a function room, and a good range of Cask Ales. The food is excellent and well worth a visit.

I was a regular here in the late '80s. I'm glad to hear it's still up to scratch - do they still do their "house" Scotch as a double for the price of a single?

Visited here having found a listing in the 500 Must-Visit Pubs book in the Jemmy Hirst at Rawcliffe.

Excellent Daleside Pumpkin Ale was quickly quaffed. food smelt delicious and was not overpriced. Will have to visit Cawood in daylight. Looks a delightful place.

Like the noticeboard with the history of the village in the pub. Nice touch I thought.

Will definitely be re-visiting with the girlfriend for a romantic meal and a pint.

A brilliant country pub. Excellent food, at least 6 well kept cask beers and an imaginative menu year round - nice one Pascal! Everyone welcome, including children and dogs. Lovely garden when not under water!! Best to book a table if you want to eat at busy times though service is always speedy.

We had a fantastic experience -- a great welcome, top beer (a guest ale from the Ossett brewery...and got to sample the other one too), and some of the best pub food I've ever had. Lovely beer garden with views over the River Ouse.

I counted 23 main courses, including specials and Sunday roasts. 5 varied vegetarian options. And luckily managed to find room for a delightful dessert. Excellent. And a perfect distance from York to cycle to (via Naburn and Stillingfleet).

Can't wait to go back there.

Very welcoming and attractive. I can recommend the Blach sheep, and also the food, which, when we visited last, was plentiful and good value. The swing bridge was an added bonus. I have a nostalgic attraction to cosy pubs in low lying and waterlogged landscapes.

Always make a visit at leats once a year, beer good, garden pleasant when not under water!

Excellent Pub. Normal beers are Landlord, Black Sheep Special, Camerons Creamy, and a guest (I'm sure there's another beer but I can't remember).

Quiz Monday night, music quiz Wed night.

Really tasty food.
