I concur with randyray's assessment. The Rebellion is well kept and this is a friendly place. The staff are throughly charming and it is the kind of place a non pub-loving Mother or Maiden Aunt could be taken. I also use it to take staff out for lunch as the set menu is, for the quality of food and bearing in mind the area, very good value. However bearing in mind the area it is very expensive indeed for a drink.

It is also certainly an eating establishment which serves beer. There is one very small conventional bar seating area, but even the non-restaurant bit to the side of it is for diners.

Despite going in fairly regularly and having built some rapport with the staff I was nonplussed the other evening when we were approached, mid pint, by a waitress who said, "hey you guys, I'm going to need this table in five minutes". I think I would have been less put out if there had been a sign there saying that the table was reserved from a certain hour or even if the approach had been, "I'm terribly sorry but we have a reservation here shortly".

As it happens we were then ushered into the dining room to finish our drinks. The dining room was still fairly empty!

I love to come here for a meal (if it's on expenses) or to sit in the peaceful garden on a summer's evening to wind down after work. Just beware being shifted in favour of more lucrative punters if just sitting with family having a drink.

Now renamed The Three Oaks, it's an up market gastropub, still serves real ale, still keep it decently. It is not your local boozer but it is a good place to go for a meal and a couple of pints.

I had lunch with two friends at the Three Pigeons recently and have to say that we all had an excellent time. The two young ladies in the bar and restaurant area were very polite and helpful and the venue is clean and tidy. Presentation, service and meal content could not be faulted. It was, for us, an excellent choice.
I visit the area a couple of times a year and will certainly return.

I think this is by far the best pub in the area. I think that the comment by the 'bricklayer' is unfair, and untrue!

I would class the restaurant as one of the best I have been to. It has a warm, friendly environment. The tables are spaced as such that you can have a private conversation, and easily access all the seats (without having to push past other people).

It has a nice open bar, with a wide range of ales, beers & spirits as well as the usual pub/bar snacks.

But the real 'star factor' for me is the food. It is all prepared fresh, using local ingredients. I am a big fan if supporting local businesses - and this restaurant does!

The food is not only tasty, but offers a good choice with a reasonable price. As for the comments about undercooked food......! I have never yet had an unsatisfactory experience with them, and I am a frequent diner there!

I WOULD SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND THIS PUB TO EVERYONE & ANYONE!!!!!

the 3 pigeons we thought would be a good place to eat, they advertise fine english dining....... what a joke !

our experience was the customer service was very very poor, 2 of the starters ordered we unavailable, the burger at 10 was raw in the centre and poor quality, the fish and chips were oil soaked and it was obvious the deep fat fryer needed an oil change, all in all a really poor choice of place to eat..

the staff were not interested when we raised our concerns too,
i would definately not recommend this place, there are too many far better pubs /places to eat and drink within a 5 mile radius- my recommendation is avoid it !

Revisited this pub and I have to say I'm impressed, it is clean, bright, cheerful and smart, however, it does lack warmth and that comfortable pub feel. The beers are very good, T.T. Landlord, London Pride, and local ale Rebellion IPA were all on and well kept. The food looked good but, I thought, a bit pricey.I definitely think the new owners have substantially improved the place and made it an assett to the locality.

Under new management yet again and has been revamped into a gastropub, now very expensive, but still serves some real ale.

Has improved a lot under the new management, the beer is kept well and the place is now clean! Unfortunately you can not get to the bar to order a beer!

A relatively quiet pub, just off the beaten track from the town center. Jazz every Tuesday and Thursday.
