Went today all problems were everybody else's fault, obviously thought over 2 hours to wait for a plaice dish that had as much fish as a piece of scampi was acceptable. The landlady is manipulative when dealing with complaints making you feel that you are in the wrong for daring to question anything about her pub.

Went today with family on the recommendation of a few colleagues. It didn't live up to the recommendation one bit - the food was awful. We all had different things and there were 5 of us so it was a good test. The main courses for 3 of us were inedible - nasty mash, never been anywhere near butter or milk, awful pies with soggy pastry, gloopy juices and horrible meat. Desserts were also awful - a crumble that was completely drowned in custard so no crumble to be seen. The "fresh ice cream" was nothing of the sort - just squirty stuff similar to from a van. And the bakewell tart wasn't a tart - it was a sponge on top of something that should've been pastry. It's the worst food I've eaten for years.

Busy pub at an intersection of country roads. The front bar and snug were quite atmospheric, despite being busy. The outdoor smoking shelter was also packed. This being our 9th pub, we'd grown a little peckish. So we retreated to the more modern restaurant area at the rear. The sweet potato & celeriac soup followed by a Rabbit Pie was more than I could manage. Although whilst contemplating how much I could stuff down me, I was able to admire some of a local artists work that was being displayed on the walls and was for sale. Ward's Best Bitter, Bass, Brew XI & Abbot were the 4 cask ales on offer. A pub I would certainly give another try.

This pub is in a great location with country side views, great facilities in the garden for families and couples alike. Lots of parking. Was very busy Sunday dinner time so must be popular, a good sign we thought.
Ordered a Sunday Carvery. Carvery was disgusting!! Vegetables all soggy, cauliflower grey looking, mashed potatoes watery, roast potatoes almost black were soft and oozing with grease, turkey and beef very dry, however Yorkshire pudding nice.
Staff very friendly, when complained took comments on board and told management and kitchen. However management never came to see us, just walked by. Nothing more was said. We did not finish our meal and came home hungry and out of pocket. Went to supermarket to get something to eat instead!
Very disappointing as only 18 months ago had a great Sunday dinner. What has happened.....Now one to miss! Call in Gordon Ramsey

I was a regular last year got attacked each time i went in there to vote for the Godiva pub awards, they won which i would say would be curious. Landlady noisy and pushy, locals only likley unlikley lot in what they call the SO SO irish bar on more than beer.
No longer in my eyes a family pub, i will not be taking back my kids again

The guest beer, Lancaster, was shockingly bad. Too many staring locals also. I won't be back. Another overated venue.

Excellent carvery and very friendly staff. The beer is good and location good. Parking is tricking on a Sunday and it does get very busy. Theonly downside is that the pub does get very hot and the tables can be a little close together. Overall though, well worth a visit.

Bank Holiday Monday August 2007, Good Beer well Kept
Excellent Food, Now a bit of a whacky warehouse, families and children. THE INEVITABLE "BUT" we waited over 1 hour for food we where asked three times did we need more drink by the waitresses but still no food. Although we had an apology from the landlady all she would say is there was a mistake by a waitress that got all the food orders mixed up, Sad to say my last visit here for food, as the landlady made no attempt to redress the problem hinting that the chef was more important than the customers. No free drink or a discount for the inconvenience. would have given an 7

A friendly pub where you will always be welcome, at last the smokers are in the yard outside, we can now enjoy the beer, I thoroughly recommend the Abbott Ale, but don't drink it all leave some for me. The place is continually upgraded, the only thing left to include now is an outdoor swimming pool I think. If global warming ever happens this will be the best place to sit. Great work Ann.

best kept beer in coventry. abbot ale, brew XI, bass and a guest (usually Bombardier, Ruddles, Sneck Lifter, Hooky etc). only downside is the pathetic pork scratchings on offer. top top pub. a year or two ago i'd rate this pub 10, but the folk singers are gone and it sinks to a 8.

Quality pub out in the sticks and well worth seeking out. Beer quality is first class from the selected Handpulled ale's. I've not treid the food but from what I've seen of them coming out of the kitchen it may be best to starve yourself for a day or two before taking one on! Gets very busy on sunny Sunday's and evenings. A large outdoor area attracts the kids and the associated screaming and wailing!

Every 5 years I go back to England and stay at my brother's house within 10 minutes walk of this excellent pub, which serves the finest pint of brew XI anywhere on this planet. Ann Huckvale does a fine job of running the pub, continuing a tradition of colorful landlords including the late greats Freddie Loach and Bert Sprawson. Looking forward to my next visit even at today's awfully inflated prices.

I was born in Corley Moor and as a child Sunday's meant going to the Bull & Butcher, eating cheese and onion batches, salt and vinegar crisps and washing it all down with fizzy pop. I've since moved to the America's but on a visit back a few years ago I was greatly moved to see that the place was still the same with the exception of the oak tree having been removed. Great pint, good faggots and chips, warm little fireplace, friendly people. It doesn't get better than this.
