Very disappointed with the ploughmans lunch today, small portion and over priced at £8.95. Won't go back!!!

Good food, somewhere between chain H&W grub and posh pub in pitch.

Big portions.

Well kept Badger on the handles (I had a pint), plus Tangle Foot. Although it has been gastrified with glasses on tables in the restaurant area, there was also a small pulic bar area with a pool table. Nevertheless, my prawn baguette was plentiful and delicious with a side salad and cole slaw for 5.50. Staff were excellent, this is a pub I shall no doubt return to when i'm next in the area.

I stayed here for work last week. The room was very comfortable.Quite busy bar & restaurant for a Monday night - a mix of locals and travellers/holidaymakers. The food wasn't bad. Pity that H & W don't appear to permit a guest beer, as I don't really like H&W's rather bland offerings.

Great News this pub has changed management.. last lot were awful.
Down for the GDSF and had 2 excellent meals. James was very freindly and chatty. Good Luck! We will see you next year.

well...they're trying. the new team are obviously an improvement, but I've got to echo the commentor who said that for as long as H&W have it in their clutches it's not going to be able to seriously compete with the local free trade.

We gather the Grove has only been re-opened for a month following a 6 month closure, but you wouldn't know it!! The new landlords of the Grove have done an amazing job in turning the palce around so quickly. We dined there last Saturday evening and the welcome and general buzz gave the place a really vibrant ambience. The restaurant was full which isnt surprising as the food was top notch and reasonably priced. We will definitely return and will be recommending to everyone!

We just went to the (re-)opening night. There's a new landlord/landlady, from the popular and successful Fox in Ansty. The prices were reasonable (though not cheap), and the food was good; the staff and landlady were friendly. For a first night it went well, and they were full, with a few (minimal) glitches; it'll be interesting to see how they do over the next month, they have room for improvement but I suspect they will absolutely improve. They have a separate drinking bar with a pool table, which was nice to see. Overall, I liked it.

Well, well....seems like the tenant has gone awol. Pub/restaurant seems to be leaderless (how unusual for a Hall & Woodhouse unit!!). Will it ever become the fantastic pub and restaurant that it deserves to be? As long as H&W have it, I doubt it!! This really could be an excellent house.

It was okay. Only on real ale on. Friendly barman BUT when the landlord walked past us, (only 2 of us in the pub), not a word. That tells me something.

I won't bother stopping again.

Bar staff were nice and friendly and no problem taking dogs in. However, although the food prices were reasonable, the carvery was a disgrace. Under cooked ham and over cooked and gristly beef accompanied by soggy roast pots. Next to no salad / vegetables left if within 20 mins of end of sitting and nobody seemed to care too much about that. Top this off with congealed gravy and there you have it. Sorry, but thats an honest opinion.

A new landlord just started this past week. It's a bit early to say, but they seem to be coping well. Have to check back in a month or so to see what it's like. For what it's worth, today's service was exemplary; but then most new landlords are exemplary for the first few weeks.

A comfortable and friendly, refurbished 17th century thatched pub, just off the A30. En-suite rooms, full English breakfast and good food. The area around the pub is good for walkers
