The last time bar billiards was played in Pulborough it was in this pub. Arun, Swan, Waters Edge, Rose & Crown - all gone.

Once upon a time you could enjoy sit down meal and drink in the dining area , now you share it with a loud band playing and pool table and loud players , will not eat here again.

I had a pizza here and it was awful.
RintysMate - 7 Jun 2011 14:54
Was hunting around online and saw a review about this pub doing pizza.

As a pizza lover living in the village I jumped at the chance to pop down for a nice, well kept pint and a take away. I have to say that not only was I not disappointed with the pizza and the service, I discovered that this pub really is on the up and deserves the locals support.

Keep it up :-)

The pub is now serving pizza, what next?
Slowly sliping down to low end scale, but at top
prices. They do need a reality check as to what the
villagers want .

Pub OK, our choice if we have people over and need somewhere a bit livelier as Friday and Staurday nights can be. Pool table and bands is the key pull for us.

Roomy pub so you can walk around, find a seat and not feel too clausterphobic.
--
Shame they only do Fullers, but still nice Ale

Not tried food

I wouldn't take the reviews below seriously, they look like they've been put up by staff ;). Pub has settled down a bit now, however the youngsters behind the bar have absolutely no idea how to pull a pint. Average.

The oddfellows arms is becoming a big hit with us locals, yet another fantastic night out on saturday and certainly pulling in the custom by treating us to a well planned firework display entertaining not only the children but us adults too. BBQ was a great touch not only offering burgers and hot dogs but chilli spuds and at good prices which is great when your entertaining the whole family as it could end costing a small fortune. The pub was buzzing inside and out which is lovely to be apart of which is why we support the change of this once horrible reputation keep up the good work.

Second visit to this lovely pub and again wonderful and delightful evening & friendly atmosphere. And still things are changing pictures and soft furnishings appearing all around which makes it very inviting and the smell of wood burning on its open fire. Me and my husband ate and was pleased with our choices: crabcakes & chicken liver pate which was fantastic and for our mains shoulder of lamb & wild mushroom chicken was cooked to perfection ( lamb was enormous ) and dessert strawberry baked alaska and banana creme brulee simply wonderful. Thankyou for your newly built smoking area as the rain was brutal that evening. Excellent will return with friends soon .

Returned friday evening with friends and again a enjoying night, food was outstanding with lots to choose from a long with some cracking wines ( which i paid for in the morning) at very reasonable prices, great atmosphere makes this pub one to watch well done.

Second visit after refurbishment. Its OK and beer of a reasonable standard. Food fairly average. Its just lost any atmosphere it once had. Now more similar to a Beefeater than a village pub.

Anyone who steps into this pub (whether for the 1st time or not) the welcome you get is second to none!! Friendly family run pub with marvelous food!
Make sure you call and book a table because this pub is gonna get popular again!!!!

For anyone who has lived in Pulborough for as long as i have then you will totally understand how much blood, sweat & tears have gone into turning around the fortunes of this lovely 17th century pub!
A warm, friendly family run establishment with a wide selection of beers, real ales & wine combined with a fantastic new chef & menu!! This pub must be given a 2nd chance to prove it just has what it takes.

What a turn around this local pub has had. I had dinner with some friends the other evening and I can only describe it as outstanding, great food, all local produce and there wasn't an empty table in the house. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and will defiantly be going back. I would recommend this to anyone.

The new owners have made a massive effort to turn around the fortunes of this lovely local pub and have succeeded brilliantly! Warm and welcoming with a good menu combined with well kept ales and lagers make for a pleasant visit. If you have had a bad experience here within the last two years (when the pub was in tempory hands) I urge you to give it another try.

It appears this nice village pub is now at last on an upward slide, I very often visit to try out the local ale's and have also eaten there. Both Beer and Food is very nice, the business run by a family are always pleased to greet customers be them local or visitors. Keep it up, your doing a good job, just keep Enterprise Inns away from the takings!!

Very good pub with a warm welcome and very nice food at a reasonable rate.
katiematie1511 - 29 Mar 2010 22:49
Just recently re-openned and beautifully decorated and furnished.
Great atmosphere and lovely people that run it (a family of Sue, Kev, Josh & Kerri Ives).
The plan is to have music every other week and start a pool team and quiz nights!! Look forward to it!

Under new management for the umpteenth time. What a change! Pub has been redecorated, has a small dining areas which don't intrude on the 'local' feel of the pub. Small but excellent menu, open fire, darts and a gamesroom around the side. Lovely. Harveys, Pride and Youngs all top quality.
RintysMate - 28 Feb 2010 08:45
My wife and I visited this pub on a Sunday in December 2008 and I regret to say were not made to feel very welcome by the Landlord or the few regulars gathered around the bar.
We were served by the unsmiling Landlord and found ourselves a place in the large and somewhat empty Saloon area.
It has been some years since I've been served a drink with lipstick around the rim. We both felt so uncomfortable we left shortly after wards without finishing our drinks.
I wouldn't entertain the idea of eating at this establishment.
Odd Fellows indeed...
YEASTMANCARRUTHERS - 11 Jul 2009 00:05
Previous comments are accurate. A warm welcome is guaranteed from the new landlord and landlady in this charming pub.

The reviews below are out of date. There are new tenants in, the chavs have moved on, the food is very good, the locals friendly and welcoming. At the moment, they serve London Pride, IPA and Youngs. Would recommend.
palison - 9 Mar 2009 14:02
New manager! New staff! New menu! Still dire. Beer terrible, food awful. Avoid. Remember those old Courage adverts?
RintysMate - 12 Dec 2008 13:15
Oh dear. Thought I'd give this place a second look. The same people, in the same position at the bar. I'm sure 2 were dead but they'd just failed to removed the carcasses. Plus every chav in Sussex must hang out here on a Saturday eve. Beer was better than last visit but food was not good. Shame its got such great potential and has hardly got any competition now.
JohnTheBeerMonster - 26 Mar 2008 12:07
food in here is not superb, the beer is average and not kept very well, lots of sediment in my pint so needless to say i didn't drink it. the locals were at the lower end of the scale but not nasty in any way. customer service is none existant. dont bother making a special trip to eat here.
foodhead.com - 16 Aug 2007 16:36
Slightly surprised at the previous comments! I have recently moved to the area and have always found the clientele to be very friendly and hospitable and not chav like at all. There is a very good menu available and the food has always been superb. This is a very old traditional village pub that has still retained it's original features. Let's hope it continues to do so and doesn't turn into one of those pubs that concentrates on food only and loses it's 'local' feel.

Hmmmm could be so much better. Full of chavs, and regulars that seem to live there and occupy the same seats 24/7. They could be waxworks? Nice pint of Pride...
JohnTheBeerMonster - 25 May 2007 13:27
Lovely building. Beer choice disappointing. Clientele the lower end of intellectual and social scale, particularly at traditional chav times ( Friday and Saturday)
