A fantastic little Dales boozer, which we incorporated into our long circular walk - meant to stop for a quick pint, but ended up having a couple plus lunch.
A real 'dogs-and-logs' pub, with locals rubbing shoulders with walkers and mountain bikers.
Check out the photo of 'JLS' enjoying a pint there during a visit to the pub in April 2011 - it cracked us up!

What a lovely place. The landlord and landlady are very friendly and welcoming. You will struggle to find a pub in a more remote location.
Perfect for walkers and dogs.

Fantastic, you will struggle to find a pub with more character than this one. We stayed there last week and I have to say that although the rooms do need a wee modernisation, the atmosphere, real ale, malt whisky collection and the food would take some beating. Small menu but all local and everything you could want (always worries me when a small pub has a large menu anyway, for obvious reasons regarding pre prepared or even bought in crap) but being a Chef myself I could tell that the food was not only made from top quality ingredients but loveingly and skillfully prepared, and a very welcome treat in the world of the modern pub. Very well run and most welcoming by the people who used to run the Blue Bell in Kettlewell I believe. Many thanks guys and we shall be back soon.

Difficult to fault in any aspect. Superb location, great local beer and excellent food all served up by a warm and welcoming staff. Not a huge menu but we were all well pleased with what was available. The beer deserves a much wider audience. This place is what country pubs should all be about.

after visiting the pub for 2 weeks in a row. It was what i expected it to be and more a very friendly warm welcome from the landlord, staff and the the locals. I would highly recommend this pub for small venues and having a drink the dales has a lot to offer everybody.

Thank you dean for your hospitality last night and the quiz was fun, Pass a message onto rob and say I have made the phone call we was talking about

Had dinner there last night and it's all changed. The owner has fled back to the South and a young.experianced, local couple have taken over. The place has been cleaned from top to bottom, there is a new'cooked from fresh menu'and a whole new atmosphere prevails.A new batch of Littonale has just been brewed by a professional brewer and I look forward to tasting it this weekend meanwhile there's a good pint of Tetley's or Landlord to keep me happy.By the way the food was delicious.Watch this space.

I have to agree with the below review - it isn't value for money and for what you pay you think you are going to get something worth the money.

The beer is fine but the food average and over priced. The landlord always seemed to be in a rush to be off somewhere and wasnt particularly chatty.

I think they are just cashing in on the location which is beautifil. The home brew is good so my suggestion is just pop in for a pint only and you will be ok.

Otherwise I wouldn't go back either.

We first found this pub last summer and really enjoyed the lunchtime food and the locally brewed beer. We vowed to return. We have just stayed at this pub this weekend. The food was still good, new landlady and landlord had taken over since our last visit, a smile would have been nice! They seemed bewildered by it all. The room cost 75.00 per night and we didn't feel that it offered good value for money. Generally, it was very small, and needed cleaning and redecorating, we decided to forego a shower this morning, it wasn't very clean! There is also a constant noise of the generator for the brewery (we assume) which runs continuously. The pub itself could also do with a good clean especially the tables in the food serving area. Sadly we wont be returning!
