user reviews of the Trigger Pond, Bucknell

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The change of tenant / management means revised hours for the kitchen - disappointed to find no food available on last visit as (brewery managed) website advertises incorrect times. Although Wadworth have been advised, the information has still not been corrected. Best to check by phone.

Went with a mate of mine very small menu with a nice variety settled for the burger and chips debated on the pie as all food was homemade burger was lush filling i left room for dessert had a cheesecake presented to the standard i personally expect garnished as well and tasted nice quite cheap for a meal Get a lot of bang for your buck

Maybe a bit biased as i used to run this lovely old pub.
It still is and am sure it will remain so.
My lady n i popped in for lunch to the same smiley team, what a credit.
We had a fab lunch and as always the beer was top,
I popped my bitter cherry on 6X,
Good Luck Ben and the team

Haven't been here for a couple of years but still found a friendly welcome. Good range of Wadworths beers on tap; I chose the seasonal Malt and Hops which was just right. The food was excellent and well priced - will come here again the next time we're in Bicester.

A recent Friday lunchtime visit was a very pleasing experience. Excellent beer (alas just the one pint) which accompanied a very tasty lunch. Lots of selection and reasonably priced. The staff are also worth a mention as too often a location, beer etc are let down by the people behind the bar. Not here, they were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

I have been going to The Trigger Pond in Bucknell for the last two years or so, every time i have been i have been welcomed with a friendly smile and helpful and pleasant staff. The drinks service has been great always able to get what i fancy on every visit.

The food EVERY time has been to the best standard and again always served with a smile and pleasant staff.

A great evening out as both a couple and with a group of friends.

Friendly staff, nice beer and cider.

Food is a big let down..

long wait which is acceptable when waiting fir first class food but....

Amatuer chef trying to do more than he is capable of!

Cold plates and over seasoned meals!

Great pub with a good selection of Wadsworth beers and ciders and wines (according to my wife). As for food, the chefs are also excellent, with a great menu and ingredients of the highest quality.

But it's the people that make a pub a great pub, and the landlord and landlady have worked hard to make this place somewhere special, with lots of simple but effective welcoming touches throughout the pub and by running many events.

The bar staff are always attentive and friendly, as are the other guests, and I am happy to have discovered The Trigger Pond and call it my local.

Best pub in the area - only eaten there once or twice, but food excellent. Outdoor area with great selection of beers and that special touch by the landlord and staff make it a pleasure to visit.

Absolutely cracking pub. My wife and I only discovered it this weekend and blows all the surrounding pubs out of the water. even though we didn't eat, the menu looks imaginative and of high quality.

I can't put my finger on it, but there's something 'special' about the place.

The pub itself is lovely with a large well kept garden, in full bloom at the moment.

Staff are polite and the landlord and landlady made a point of saying hello to us.

They will be seeing a lot more of us!

I went back to this place recently - since my last visit 15 months or so ago it's been sadly taken over by a chain. Efficient, clean but the food has lost it's 'homecooked' feel and we felt generally rushed as though eating in a fast food joint. Previously I gave it 7/10 - 4/10 this time.

good selection of beer ,fantastic selection of real food, cooked by an excellent chef.i must pass a comment about the person known as m in your postings.obviously a person who thinks the star public house is a fine dining venue, must be bonkers.myself and good lady wife have been using the trigger pond for over 12 years, and the food and ambiance of this pub has been the best yet.

Myself, my hustand and my son called at the Trigger Pond on a Sunday evening five or six weeks ago. It was after 7 pm and they told us they didnot do food so we had a drink and went to the 7 Starts Twyford (excellent by the way). About two weeks later I took my mother and sister out to visit an elderly aunt at Fewcott House Nursing Home and on the way back 2.50 approx we called at the Trigger Pond for a coffee. I was all locked up. Approx two weeks later we decided to go out for a bite of lunch lovely sunny day etc. Called at the Trigger Pond ordered drinks decided what sandwichs etc we wanted (it clearly states on the bar snacks list that food was served until 7pm)I went in to order only to be told "we don't do food." The girl serving us drinks had been pretty indifferent being more interest in chatting with her friend and a chap slouched by the bar. Its absolutely the last time I will go there whilst the present owners are there and I definitely would not recommend it. It barely passes for a pub what with the selective opening times!

A delightful English village pub. A good range of beers and an extensive wine list (including a Mexican wine!). The food was very good when my wife and I went there (although others I've spoken to have made criticisms about this - as I say I can only speak as I've found). A bit 'foody' for a real pub goer but nevertheless well worth a visit for a good lunch.
