Recently refurbished and extended with their strapline being "Cask and Curry", we visited yesterday just before 7pm to finally give the legendary menu a try. And, as others have said, the food was superb! There were only two real ales available in the back bar (Fuller's Southern Star and I think it was Doom Bar) but the beer wasn't that important so I tried the keg Maltsmiths IPA instead. Definitely worth visiting.

If your after a fantastic nosh from this place make sure you book a table - it`s popularity has soared to the point where if you don`t book...you don`t eat!

The mixed grill I had in there last night was superb. You have to go and try it and I will be going back there very soon.

Popped in early doors wiv a mate to sample the large mixed grill starter....It nearly killed us! The friendly smirking barperson accepted our cash and told us it wouldn`t be long, 15 minutes later a huge mountain of steaming starters duly arrived..."Not many try it, not many finish it!" It was a struggle but we persevered, that was food sorted for two days! Superb indeed, we shall return but just for the balti next time! Must visit.

Looks a bit of a dive from the outside, and is on the border of civilisation (city centre) and dodgy innercity area, but inside is ok. Pool and 2 big tellys showing football, acceptable beer though nothing on draught for real ale bores. Has an exclusively injun menu, reasonably priced, massive portions, and those eatng seemed happy with their grub.

This place was a notorious pit back in the day....back in the day as in past. Looks like they`ve spent a bit of cash and spruced it up, recovered the seats, big TV screens, pool table, snazzy bar e.t.c. The beer was fine, service was fine, yes there was Asians in there..so what? The only person who was dodgy in there was a white bloke who looked a bit unhinged but harmless..might`ve been me! Oh yeah and the food looked pretty nifty. Worth popping into before heading to the Asylum venue to partake in some Death Metal..I ain`t called Blastbeat for no reason!

Walking past and looking through the open door to an empty room, staffed by asians was enough lol.
Not used the place for nearly 30 years, and if they want the likes of me back they'll need to do something drastic.

This pub is somewhat of a dive, in fact it is the dive of all dives, but if you get to know some of the locals and become friendly with the bar staff (Particularly Mo') then it makes a great cheap pub to drink in before going to Subway City, what with it being situated just around the corner and all....
