user reviews of the Windsor Castle, Windsor

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This pub is on the outskirts of Windsor overlooking the Long Walk, with the real castle in the distance. Almost the same list of "Great real ales" on as Mappiman's visit - Brakspear Bitter, Courage Directors & Young's Bitter. The main bar is still quite traditional, whilst there is a conservatory for dining, which presumably becomes a suntrap in clement weather. One of the more disappointing pubs in Windsor overall.

After walking 14 miles from Chertsey, I was desperate for a pint. The advertising on the pub sold it to me - "Great Real Ales".

Courage, Doom Bar and my chosen Brakspear Bitter were on. Decent pint - £4 - but then again, it is her maj's local.

Bombardier, Courage Best, Brakspear and Windsor & Eton Guardsman. Smart pub, seemed ok.

Sat outside in the beer garden on a hot day in June with a fine view of the great park. The beer was certainly acceptable and while I did not eat the food looked to be of a good quality and they were certainly a busy enough kitchen. One of the better pubs in Windsor

Tried this pub over Easter on the back of previous reviews - found it dissapointing. Beer was fine but locals ignorant and unfriendly. Why can't people say "excuse me" before barging between you and your partner? Bar was too low to lean on but did have coat hooks under the counter (I wish they all did). Huge windows take up most of the front which is fine for viewing the Great Park opposite but feels more like being in a shop than a pub.

I visited the Windsor Castle for the second time this year. The first visit was a really hot day and I sat outside in the beer garden with views across to Windsor Castle and drank some cold lager. This visit was much colder being November, so stayed inside and had a few pints of Brakspear - which is superbly kept at this pub.

Barstaff were very attentive, food and beer good quality and fairly priced and the overall atmosphere was friendly. Definitely recommend a visit.

The new manager is doing a sterling job and seems to attracted some much needed "new blood". Food is still excellent!

Nice enough pub, just up the road a bit from King Henry's residence... If you start walking the 3-mile Walk from the castle, this handy little drinkery is only about 1/3 mile along on the right-hand side. Brilliant. Sandwiches were lovely. Of course if you do the Walk from the horse statue end, you'll need a drink or two by the time you get here..!! (Mind you, its easier walking down to the castle, than walking up to the monument). 6/10 TJ

I ate here recently and found the regulars rather snooty and unwelcoming. A real rotarians pub, not that there is anything wrong with that, it's just not my cup of tea. Having said that, the food was pleasant but more than a little overpriced for what you get.

Good ale selection, a great location right off ot the Long Walk (which means nice views from the outdoor tables) and a good crowd. Since it is off the tourist track, unlikely to be overly crowded.

Worth the walk. A nice warm place; clean and fairly friendly with the nicest pint of Deuchars IPA I've tasted! Well worth putting on the crawl list.

Last week I have a dinner with some italian collegues at Windor Castle. An english friend invited us. We really enjoyed the place, the food, the beers and the atmophere. Great Pub!

Excellent pub, everything a town local should be - friendly staff and very welcoming landlord, who is also an fine cook! Good ales also. Plus dogs welcome, which is extra handy since it's just off the Long Walk.

Definitely a top pub - the local bitter & bacon sarnies at 10 in the morning whilst watching meaningless rugger from the other side of the world is a particular high.

Really good food & spacious.. Bring on the Rugby World Cup...(soccer is for girls)

Good boozer with excellent food. Good choice of wine and beer. Two TV screens for rugby matches. Great place to watch rugby, not soccer.
