Oh dear! Best beer and food in the area and the landlord and lady are retiring in a couple of months. Apparently has been bought as a going business, freehold, by someone with experience. Fingers crossed!

Busy on our mid week visit. Ale in good nick, service a bit unwelcoming, food a bit below average - but cheap to be fair. Another one to visit for a decent pint - pretty sure the beer prices were keen.

Beautifully furnished with interesting items all around, very homely, lovely real fire. However the food is poor quality, the landlord cold and surly and the beer disappointing considering it is in the Good Beer Guide.

This is an excellent Pub with a great atmosphere. We were just passing and popped in for a meal (which was very good) and the locals were great fun. The Landlord was friendly but does have a dry humour and everyone calls him Basil (I guess from Faulty Towers). Anyway, down to the important stuff, the range of beers were obviously very well kept and
gorgeous so I will be back in for more. Luckily I wasn't driving so could take full advantage!

This pub must have the most unfriendly landlord in the country. People tell me he was a a male model (YIKES!!!). May be he should have stuck to modeling!!! However, the pub is ok and the beer aint bad either (well, last time I was in there!!). Big car park and it has accommodation. Can't comment on the food, I haven't tried it. 5/10 from me!!

The beer here is always of the highest quality, and the food is excellent value for money. This is one of the best pubs in Wiltshire and is a must if you're travelling down the Bourne Valley. The only downside is that it's so close to the Winterbourne Arms, making for a difficult choice if you're looking to eat.

What do you mean you live in the Bourne Valley, or regularly pass through it, and still havent visited The Earl of Normanton? Shame on you! Alan and Nicky have been running this splendid Village Pub for over ten years now and it goes from strength to strength. In my humble opinion, this is probably the best of the Bourne Valley pubs, particularly if you enjoy freshly cooked and very tasty food, (there is something on the menu for everyone) together with an ever changing range of well kept Real Ales. There are usually five to choose from, including two regulars, Summer Lightning and Flower Pots, with usually three Guest Ales as well as good lagers and cider. This Pub can also boast a strong and loyal following of regulars who are always happy to offer all new visitors free guidance and advice!
Situated on the A338 on the bend at Idmiston, it is difficult to miss, (indeed, some passing vehicles havent!) so the next time youre on the A338, travelling between Salisbury and Tidworth, drop in. It will be well worth it!

This medium sized roadside inn had a nice feel about it. Excellent beer from the Cheriton brewery and good food meant that the place was very busy on our visit. An interesting collection of Twickenham seat cushions adorn the walls. Visited July 04, Voted 9
