Another dire Wetherspoons a complete contrast to the one in Wick. Ale was about drinkable but that's about it. A swift pint and off elsehwhere - leave it to the usual suspects who inhabit the second rate Wetherspoons.

I was a bit dubious with it being a JDW, and on the first visit it did seem short of staff. However, we used it many times, and could not find fault with it. Beer range was excellent with 5 ever-changing guests, 1.49 a pint Monday - Wednesday, you could have a guest with the meal deals (6 for a mixed grill and a pint of Caledonian blonde - Bargain!) and the staff were absolutely excellent, always polite and friendly, no matter how busy it was.

A good selection of beers on our first visit but they ran out of guest beers on our next. The customers were queueing single file to be served by the one barman on duty. Staff are polite but there aren't enough of them. We stayed upstairs in the lodge. Despite desperately needing a refurb it was clean, the bed was firm and the shower powerful. Good value despite the chipped paint and fading decor.

After my recent visit, it is likely to be my last. What price is value for money? Dire service at bar, wait here, wait there, no queing but no service either, how do you get served? Duty manager rushing around, achieving little, bar staff with "chips" on their shoulders, sorry Wetherspoons Inverness just ain't working. Add TOO COLD Real Ale dfoing a showcase festival(NOT a new problem), lack of availability of food menu, excessive unmarried children with their babies in buggies/chairs and the general "shithole" uncleared table effect, its not good. AVOID!!!

Beer was less than average, food had the consistency and taste of cardboard, staff were rude. This is typical of Weatherspoons - take good beer, let it go off and give to a cretin with bad-breath to throw at you while you choke on food rejected by next door's cat.

Never again.

Went in on a thursday afternoon. It was relatively busy, but sevrice was quick and friendly.

I had two very good pints of Houstons "Warlock Stout" .

Certainly one of the better Wetherspoons I have seen in all my holidays.

Lodge rooms are better that Wigan and Birmigham, but hardly luxury. Staff in pub are helpful but appear to know little about what is happening in and around them. Food was good.

I stayed at the lodge on Saturday night and had none of the problems reported earlier, always someone at or near reception, beer as good as any Wetherspoons and the Beef Rendang I had on the specials notice was excellant - now the bad part, breakfast on Sunday morning was cold except the fried egg which had seen the pan for a few seconds on one side only, this seems to be a common fault in many Wetherspoons, maybe all the chefs are only trained to make salad. All in all still well worth a visit.

Have to agree with the comments about the food. Went there on Thursday as it was curry night and I've had some decent curries in Spoonies around the country. However on this occasion, the lamb rogan josh was pretty awful - powdery sauce and soggy popadums. Beer ok and clientele was typical Spoonies mix of suits on the way home from work and those attracted by the cheapness of the beer. Although it was only early evening, there were a few who'd had a few!

Very busy on a Tuesday afternoon. A pint of Black Isle "Red Kite" was served quickly and efficiently.

I have never stayed in the Lodge, however I have frequently been into the public house next door. The atmosphere is usually good at night if you are there for a quiet drink. There is no music so you can hear the people you are with. However the food in this establishment is horrendous. I had lunch there this afternoon as a treat for my birthday and I wish we hadn't bothered. We ordered 2 paninis and a bowl of chips at 1.10 by 1.40 they had still not arrived and i complained to the young lassie behind the bar (of which there were only 3 behind the bar during a busy lunch hour) who said they would be out straight away after a furhter 15 minutes they did indeed appear. However the cheese was not fully melted and the chips were cold. Not to mention the 4 lettace leaves that accompanied my and my partner's panini. Thoroughly disgusted that I had to call work to say I would be a little late and the food was sub-standard I went to ask for a complaints/comments form at the bar and was promptly told there wasn't one! Very poor.

Quite a pleasant shock . Four real ales and one real cider on tap , all in good condition .
The service is still a little slow but i have seen far worse , worth a visit .

They seem to have trouble putting enough staff on to cope with customer demand, and at least one who was 'working' on Sunday evening was getting his pay by deception. The next table to us had two glasses and two coffee cups on it for 1 hour 45 minutes while this creature repeatedly walked past it before returning empty-handed to the bar. Never more than two real ales on at any time I saw. If this is still better than many JDW's the brand is in trouble.

A good pint of Black Isle Brewery beer. This pub lacks atmosphere to a greater extent than other Wetherspoons houses. This may be due to its being at the "wrong end of Town".

Weatherspoons , cheap and cheerfull food . Three real ales are usually on tap , mostly from Scotland , but the quality does vary . The pub can get very busy at evening times , especially at weekends . All in all well worth a visit , and very affordable .

I agree with the previous contributor. This pub is noticeably better all round than many of the Wetherspoons in Greater London that I know.

People knock Wetherspoons but this Pub is an excellent example of how they can get things right. The usual good value meals, and a choice of six Scottish ales (no Greene King here thank goodness) and Westons Old Rosie Cider. All superbly kept
