Humble Plum, Bitterne

Used to love this pub as it was local for me and my friends and had a nice selection of real ales. Ordered two pints of an ale I wont name which is usually a great pint and it tasted absolutely foul with a smell of line cleaner in it. I took the pints back to the bar virtually untouched and was told i would have to pay for 2 halves if i wanted to exchange the beer for something else!!!!
As a brewer myself i know what a real ale should taste like & as a customer I know how I should be treated!!
Avoid! unless you wish to drink bad beer & be publicly humiliated when you complain about it!

The South Western, St Denys

Superb pub! been drinking here for years, Good beers well kept by a great Landlady. Superb atmosphere inside with a lovely beer garden with patio heaters outside. I have to say that its an absolute travesty that this pub was not considered for the Good Pub Guide this year but then again what do CAMRA know about a good pub!
If your in the area check this pub out, it definitely features in my top 3 ale pubs of Southampton.

The Guide Dog, Bevois Valley

Simply the best pub I have ever had the pleasure of drinking in! You will always be guaranteed an exceptional pint and at �2.60 its like stepping back in time! plus on a Friday there is always one on at �2.20 a pint! As for the pub itself its always full of friendly locals and its impossible not to be drawn into conversation out the back. Its also kept in immaculate condition, but be on your best behavior as verbal profanity will not be tolerated! P.S the landlady's famous filled rolls go down well on football days!!!
