The Red House, Highclere

Popped into here for a spot of lunch. Ordered a ploughmans and a cheese and pickle bagutte. The food arrived and Ploughmans was good value at �6.95. The cheese and pickle baguette was tiny. The price was not shown on the board for the baguette. I was then slapped a charge of �4.95 for the baguette. I raised this with the owner who said 'That's a fair price as you pay �2.50 in a garage, you've sat down in here and you've had the food served to you.' I told him it is outrageous as there was no side salad or anything, just a tiny baguette about 10cm in length. The lanadlord then said 'Well you loose out with the cheese and pickle as the ham or sausage you get more. He then went onto say he has to pay 95p on that baguette'. He is a rude and obnoxious man. A local told me that he cuts the baguettes in half to make more money out of them.

Please do not waste your hard earned money in this establishment. You will regret it.
