Yew Tree, Ormskirk

Not on the beaten track mainly for the local neighbourhood opening hours are not all day.
Not the most inviting exterior and the inside is not inspiring either, BUT...... the food is perfect. Cheap, fresh, perfectly cooked and presented. Not a place to be rushed either quite tranquil actually. Give it a try

The Hayfield, Ormskirk

Very good pub/restaurant, I say restaurant because the food is of that quality. Staff are attentive, very cheerful and are there for your service not just a job. Great atmosphere, sport at one end and a peaceful other end.
I had been with a party of 8 and the service was spot-on. Our meals arrived all together, with no mistakes, unusual for a pub, they popped back every so often seeing if everything was ok.
Parking Is at a premium but across the road there is a line of shops some spaces there and the streets surrounding.
Being on the A59 is easily accessible. Enjoy
