The Goose on the Broadway, Stratford
A wonderful boozer if you're a sad loser who enjoys sitting in an aircraft hangar full of mad pensioners and jobless immigrants whilst spending your last 3 on 7 pints of watered down lager.
If you're not that kind of person (or if you don't like having to wait 40 minutes for your 40p a pint Carling Cats Pee With Added Water) stay away. If you're alcoholic but nearly skint, try the Weatherspoons a few doors down - nearly as cheap and at least the staff are friendly (albeit in a "Have A Nice Day" kind of way).

The King Edward VII, Stratford
One of Stratfords better pubs, although it's gone a bit poncy in the last couple of years. Maybe not such a bad thing, seeing as the majority of the boozers in Stratford are such sh*tholes. Sometimes I don't mind a pub with posh pretensions if it means a change from visiting a filthy drinking pit and getting my head kicked in.
And cohenst - you're wrong - Shakespeare actually dined on foie gras here, and drank a spendid glass of 1523 'Old Mans Thumper'.

The Cart And Horses, Stratford
Great place for a punch up, just turn up here steaming at 1am on a Saturday and start fighting with the Slavs or the Pikeys over some 50+ yr old vodka-soaked dog with varicose veins wearing a mini skirt. Great fun, but make sure you pick a night where the hospitals aren't too busy so you don't have to wait too long until you get all the glass shards removed from your face and neck.
