The Royal Stag, Datchet

i have been drinking at the stag for the best part of 12 years, i have seen it change owners and landlords and it has always retained its great character and charm the food is amazing and the drinks are the same.

The thing that has earned this a 1 star review is the fact the clientele in the last few months has taken a drastic turn for the worst. there used to be 2 pubs in datchet, the morning star and the stag. With datchet having a large traveller community a lot of them would all drink at the morning star which closed a few months ago. Now they have started occupying the stag across all generations. The public have been intimidated on a regular basis, the younger generation have been constantly visiting the toilets where they have been taking drugs and being obnoxious to anybody who dare walk in the while this is happening and have been parking their horse and carts in the car park so they have a way of getting back to their caravans without being pulled over by the police for drunk driving. Since this occupancy as happened the pub no longer feels like it transmits the comments in other reviews and it is genuinely disturbing to visit the establishment anymore. My wife will no longer go there either because of the lewd and threatening behaviour of the new clientele. Avoid at all costs.
