St Margarets Tavern, St Margarets

I haven't asked the landlord because I have only seen him for the first time since his tenure commenced.

Whilst I have no truck with you flying in the face of popular opinion, to call the place a "shithole" is obtuse to say the least. And this vintage of bar staff is far poorer than the last.

The food is always good - one thing that's remained constant.

I'm glad to see the new landlord isn't looking to radically alter things and I welcome his posting on this board.

St Margarets Tavern, St Margarets

Oisin - PLEASE COME BACK!!!

I moved to St Margarets about a year ago and one of the best things in the area was the Tavern. Friends could not believe having such a good, friendly, well run boozer minutes walk away from where I lived.

Since the change in management, its rapidly gone downhill. Most of the great bar staff are history, the crowd has taken a dramatic turn for the worse, the lighting and layout are poor. Small touches such as candles on the tables went some way to creating a unique atmosphere. Now, it could be any chain pub, with a crowd too old for "Edwards".

At least the Kevins and Sharons weren't there on Sunday evening. However, no one was - the place was empty.

Perhaps the change in the St Margarets Tavern is a mark of things to come - Yummy Mummy will change its name Pramface, Birkett will move to stocking sportswear and Brula will be turned into a kebab shop.
