The Thomas Cubitt, Belgravia

Had Sunday lunch here today. It's not really a pub at all - every table has cutlery on it, and you'd only really come here if you wanted a meal. And the food was very good - my friend's chicken caesar was declared excellent and my veggie burger came with thick chips and a little pot of mayonnaise. And a divine cheesecake to follow. The staff were almost too friendly (our waitress kept apologising for keeping us waiting, even though we thought she'd been pretty quick). They seemed to have plenty of high chairs for small children, but I didn't see a children's menu.

It's true about the excellent wine list. I didn't make a note of the beers when I went in, but the waitress offered me Adnams and IPA.

The interior is lovely, but try to get a seat outside in good weather, or near the front windows, as the back part is just a touch on the dark side. (On a lovely sunny day like today was, this pretty much means arriving at opening time.)

Incidentally, there is a much-praised dining room on the upper floor, which has to be booked (tables in the bar are first come, first served) - this isn't open for Sunday lunch.
