Crown Posada, Newcastle

Everyone else is quite right. This is one of the most lovely pubs in Newcastle. Nay, in England. And the best thing about it is, only those who actually LIKE real, old-fashioned pubs would even notice it from the outside never mind bother stepping in, so it's unlikely to be turned into an all-bar-one any time soon (shame that the same can't be said about its counterparts down south). Watch out for the peculiar opening times, though...

The White Horse, Hampstead Heath

My friends and I were all looking forward to enjoying the refurbished White Horse, but we were treated horribly on the opening weekend. Despite minding our own business for the duration of a pint, we were falsely accused of drug-taking and were kicked out. We later found out from other former locals that this has happened dozens of times since the reopening a few weeks back, quite often without any reason even being given. The staff are rude and aggressive, the decor, drinks and food are average, and the room downstairs - once used for a decent comedy night - has been turned into toilets. Oh, and don't forget, you might get forcibly pushed out the door for no reason. Definitely the most avoidable pub in north london....
