The Prince of Wales, Bishopston
Be warned - the other night I witnessed a customer getting a lecture from one of the bar staff for holding up a 10 note, being told staff there didn't like that sort of thing and if he did it he would be served last! As far as I could see he was just waiting quietly to be served. I understand that as he was on his way out the manager confirmed this bizarre rule to him! Intrigued I looked up a couple of sites on pub etiquette and they all recommended holding money up to signal you are waiting to be served - I would have thought good idea in the Prince of Wales as the service can be pretty erratic.
Wanted to post as I found the whole thing pretty shabby - if they are so offended by the sight of a 10 note then I'll be taking mine elsewhere. No punter should be treated like that. Incidentally, I noticed in the gents toilet there was some graffiti, including some very industrial language, much of which didn't look new and I couldn't see any attempt to remove it. Maybe this is less offensive than holding money up in the pub.
