The Green Man, Edney Common

New landlords offering up market restaurant menu and lunchtime bar menu .Those only wanting a drink can enjoy two real ales [one greene king and one local ale] I tried Captain Bob from Mighty Oak which was very good in front of the huge log fire.

Good range of ales with lots of interesting guests plus house beer brewed at Brentwood Brewery by "head girl" bar manager Sophie, all served in tip top condition.

Landlord usually in the kitchen rustling up posh nosh for the Oak Room restaurant upstairs or more modest fayre for the locals.

Well worth a visit.

The White Hart Inn, Margaretting Tye

Well run house with friendly, knowledgeable staff.Ussually a good selection of ales but could maybe do with afew more from micros.Popular for food with good menu plus great specials board.Always busy, potential diners should definitley book.Well kept extensive gardens ease the pressure in warmer months.Currently well deserved local camra pub of the year and should proceed further up the rankings.
