The Blue Ball Inn, Sidford

great food, great atmosphere, lovely large gardens, quiet.
I have eaten here several times for business, a summer company bar-b-q and a quiet candle lit meal and all were excellent.
reasonable price, dog friendly garden. highly recommended

The Barn Owl, Exeter

I work next door to this pub so it is very convenient for lucnch, entertaining and that swift pint before going home. However, i would crawl over broken glass before ever eating there again! i have had some memorably bad meals in my time and 3 of them have been here during summer 2006. service is slow and very under staffed. food is cold usually and badly prepared or overcooked. (had frozen bacon in a bacon sandwich this time!!). the only saving grace is the amstel beer on draught. AVOID AVOID AVOID
