I have never stayed in the Lodge, however I have frequently been into the public house next door. The atmosphere is usually good at night if you are there for a quiet drink. There is no music so you can hear the people you are with. However the food in this establishment is horrendous. I had lunch there this afternoon as a treat for my birthday and I wish we hadn't bothered. We ordered 2 paninis and a bowl of chips at 1.10 by 1.40 they had still not arrived and i complained to the young lassie behind the bar (of which there were only 3 behind the bar during a busy lunch hour) who said they would be out straight away after a furhter 15 minutes they did indeed appear. However the cheese was not fully melted and the chips were cold. Not to mention the 4 lettace leaves that accompanied my and my partner's panini. Thoroughly disgusted that I had to call work to say I would be a little late and the food was sub-standard I went to ask for a complaints/comments form at the bar and was promptly told there wasn't one! Very poor.

Best bar in Inverness. A good mix of people of all ages enjoying Karaoke on a Wednesday (see Lizzie doing her thang - an elderly lady who is frequently glued to the karaoke machine). Most nights there is live music ranging from current hits to golden oldies. The facilities are comfortable and the food is prepared to a high standard. Could do with updating the toilet facilities thought. Probably one of the best bars in Inverness. Beautifull waterfront where you can sit outside for those after work drinks.

The Ship Inn, Irvine
One word - Amazing. The atmosphere is usually jumping. I have seen me wait 40 minutes for a table - surprising as it is in such a little place out of the way. We happened upon it one summer whilst on a day trip from Glasgow around the coast and we have been every summer since. The food is of such exceptional standard and the friendly staff are always polite and happy to help, which is amazing seeing how they are usually run off their feet. The menu is extensive and includes lots of fresh local produce - the Ship Inn is right beside the harbour. Follow the signs for Irvine, them The Big Idea and then the Harbour and you should find it on the right. Word of the wise though always phone and book!
