I have been going to this Pub on and off for 10 years and have always been able to rely on the food (not cheap but real quality). The experience I had to day was a real shock. The food was pretentious and of very poor quality. My wife (definitely NOT a complainer) was appalled at what amountedto a very small dry trout.dry new potatoes, and a salad that if it had been washed still contained grit.It also came with olives which my wife had specifically said she did not want.My other guest had the same and concurred that it was very poor and certainly nowhere near value for money. When the waitress asked if we were happy with our food I explained why we were not and she became very defensive and a little hostile. My steak and ale pie was acceptable but unremarkable and expensive at 10.50.there was no apology or offer to try and put things right and frankly it spoiled a lovely day.
I would avoid this pub for food - the location is sublime -service at the bar good - and the actual pub very comfortable.Just eat somewhere else.

I have just had 'Sunday Lunch' in this pub and to call the food school dinners would be an insult to school dinners. How anybody gets away with serving up what wasn't even down market cafeteria style food Is beyond me.
The veg was frozen, the 'meat' processed and the roast potatoes tasted like they had been pre cooked (badly) last night in last weeks oil.
The couple next to us were told off for complaining about the delay with their main as they had moved the dirty starter plares themselves as they had got fed up staring at them.Places like this are just what the licensing trade does NOT need right now.
