The Walnut Tree, Leytonstone

Had its tenth anniversary on April 30 with no beer - all 12 handpumps dry. The barman suggested that "someone" had forgotten to put the order in. This is in the mmiddle of Wetherspoon's "biggest ever" beer festival.

The North Star, Leytonstone

This has only been in the same family for 30 years if you mean the Charrington family. It is now Enterprise (lease sale detals are on their website). In the 80s it became a staging post for a succession of "difficult" managers (one ended up in Brixton prison after a fight with a customer, and another was removed by police). It had ups and downs in the 90s, especially after the Walnut Tree opened, but more recently has become a lot better.
