The Shepherd and Dog, Fulking

This pub is set in beautiful grounds on the banks of a small river. Nice staff. However, we visited early today and were appalled at the excessive prices charged. A small apple juice (childs) �2.50...! Magners �4.00 We ordered 3 main course, lamb shanks and sausages and mash.
The lamb shanks �13.95 and sausage and mash �10.50. If the food had of been to a higher standard I would not have minded. Will not be coming back.... The lamb shank tasted as though it had been boiled and was leathery and hard (not slow cooked until softly yielding as it should be) not quite sure how they managed to get it SO wrong. The veg was overcooked, the potatoes undercooked. The sausages were ok but the mash was poor. Overall a thorough disappointment, absolute cheek to charge those prices for substandard food. Don't bother.
