The Eyston Arms, East Hendred

We popped into this 'pub' for a lunch time drink on a lovely summers day.
It appeared to have a nice atmosphere and could be cosy both in the winter and summer. The menu looked a tad expensive although the food appeared to be directed to the more refined pallet and the price of food, and beer, reflected this.
The waiting staff were delightful. Always smiling and appeared to want to make your visit an enjoyable one. The only criticism was the grumpy, definately must have failed quite spectaculary on his customer service course, man behind the bar. He was arrogant, unwelcoming and down right rude. For this I would, unfortunately not recommed this place to anyone. The person behind the bar should be the flag ship of an establishment. I heard, if it is true, he owns the place and I wouldn't want to part with my hard earned cash to line his pocket. He should look at the waiting staff of how to treat customers.

The Red Lion, Brightwell-cum-Sotwell

Possibly the best pub in the area! The staff are always friendly, Sue, the landlady, is a gem! Always smiling and welcoming. It's a traditional pub with local ales and locally scorced home made food as much as possible and caters for most dietary needs.
From french lessons, a beer festival, quiz nights to spec's on the bar for those optically challenged. This is a fantastic 'pub-pub' hence we go there quite a lot.
In such a small community as Brightwell, this place really brings the villagers of this unspoilt village together and draws people in from the surrounding area and beyond.
Well worth a visit - you won't be disappointed.
p.s. dogs are allowed.
