My wife & I called in for lunch & received a friendly welcome. After a refreshing glass of cider (Stowford Press- why don't more pubs keep it?) we ordered our food. A wait was necessary as everything is freshly prepared but it was really worth it. My Seafood Platter was beautifully presented, included Crayfish Tails, Crab Meat, Mussels, Prawns & Salmon, & tasted as good as it looked. My wife had Breast of Duck with Vegetables & Garlic Potatoes which she really enjoyed. We both had a dessert- my wife had a Raspberry & Peach Trifle & I had Sticky Toffee & Date Pudding with Date Sauce & Custard. Both were delicious.
I would recommend this Inn to anyone who is looking for "real" food & not the cardboard that is often served at mass catering establishments.
Well done, all at the Rose & Crown!

After visiting this pub last year & enjoying the friendly atmosphere & very good food, we thought we would take some friends for lunch here. Alas, it has new owners, who were in the Catering Corps, & don't you know it! A frosty reception occured as part of our party arrived a little early. The menu is now rather limited, food average & there is very little incentive to visit here, I'm sorry to say.
As they used to say on my school report-could do a lot better!
