Rat Race Ale House, Hartlepool

Tiny pub. Two pale beers, an ipa and a porter on and in stunning condition. Arguably some of the best beer I've had in a very long time. Was staying in the town for work and had to go back every night.

Wee Waif, Charvil

They have Green King XX mild on for may and it's good too. Another barrel about to come on next apparently.This is a rare beer of a rare style. A for effort. I think gk might have finally twigged people want something different. Hope they keep it up. £3.04 a pint be for the mild. Other beer is gk ipa but I guess that is to be expected. That said, they have brew dog punk Ipa and anchor steam beer in the fridge alongside golden hen and abbot. Bit quite for a Saturday night though

The Royal Oak, Knowl Hill

Visited early in the week. Clean light interior. Been refurbished since our last visit. Four ales on including a local microbrewry straight from the cask. Friendly barman and regulars. Beer in good condition and taster freely offered. Bonus was an easily accessible dartboard. Would go back again.
