The Florence, Herne Hill

This establishment is a snapshot of everything that is wrong with the great British pub. It thinks it's a restaurant, but the food is anything but quality-wise, but worst of all...it's like a creche. Attracting the ugliest elements of yummy mummy, ball-less menified middleclassville, you honestly can't move in the garden without encountering a �400 pushchair or grown men playing peek-a-boo. Add to this the fact that the staff are as haughty as they are useless, and also that this sort of pub is becoming the norm, and you can see why most people choose to stop at home for a beer. Vile.

The Commercial, Herne Hill

A lovely little pub the Commercial is, lots of character compared to other refurbed gastro pubs in the Herne Hill area. Food is generally excellent-they do little Tapas style dishes that are quite nice and the chips are the chunkiest buggers I've ever seen. And good news! The gents toilets seem to have been thoroughly cleaned and you can now take a leak without first having to don a Biohazard suit...

The Dog House, Kennington

The Good: the ambience and decor; the layout of the bar; the barstaff (generally)
The Bad: The toilets. Jesus. It was like sitting in a busy STD clinic waiting-room by the gents. Talk about rancid fishy bellends.
