The Barley Mow, Tandridge

This pub seems dogged with problems. I stopped for lunch with my mother at what appeared very pleasant surroundings. First one, then another barman couldn't help with recommendations for their beer ('can't stand bitter'), but I had a great half of Tanglefoot.

The lunch turned up after over 3/4 hour, my mother's fish pie was tepid, and my salad turned out to be an inedible plateful crammed with tinned tuna, some indescribably awful shrimps, coleslaw, potato salad, half an egg and some greens. I gave up after a couple of mouthfuls. For �9 this was an insult, compounded by the curt reply by the staff - 'that's what was on the menu'.

Never again.
