I called into "The Red Lion" today with some clients after a meeting hoping to get some lunch. I had not been to this pub for a few years but I remember it being quiet friendly and homely. NOT ANY MORE.
The pub itself is now very odd. I agree with other comments, it is like three or four different pubs/bars in one. And none of them seem to work.
We waited at the bar for some time before a lady (later to be informed this lady was none other than the owner)arrived. We tried to order some drinks and food but she just looked at us, with what I can only describe as a "dirty" look, ignored us and walked away. I asked her again for some service as she walked by and she grunted "that she was busy"!! It did not look that busy to us, and no wonder if this is the greeting you receive. We left and went to the "Kingfisher" its about two minutes up the road but miles and miles ahead on SERVICE, atmosphere and the food is great too.
Reading other comments about "The Red Lion" all I can say is "self praise is no praise" or maybe the folk that frequent this dirty and unfriendly pub 'know no better'.
We will not be back or recommend.
Note to landlady.....get some manners!!!!!

The Kingfisher, Chertsey
We ended up here today for lunch, must admit it was by default. We had such a unbelievably rude and unproffesional experience at "The Red Lion" in Russell Road that we walked out.
But to our gain. The food at "The Kingfisher" was great and much cheaper than the other pub. There was a pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff and very quick service. Would recommend and will be back. Keep up the good work.
