The White Hart, Wood Street

Hoorah our village pub has reopened!
The new food menu is extensive, reasonably priced, something for everyone here, and huge starters too! Sunday roasts are back. The beer is good well kept and at the moment Black Sheep and London Pride are on offer. New furnishings provide lots of leather sofas and tub chairs, and low leather cubes (are these for walkers to put their feet up?) The publican is friendly and welcoming, shows interest in his customers. We like it.

The Royal Oak, Wood Street

Yes this is a great place, only problem is it's a bit small for a largish group to sit and eat if all the locals are in, so get there early is my advice.

At the moment it is closed being refurbished, we locals wait with baited breath to see what type of establishment emerges- we can only hope for a return to the welcoming atmosphere from yesteryear with decent nosh good beer a warm real fire!
