The Weir Hotel, Walton on Thames

We popped in for lunch a few weeks ago at a busy time and I was very impressed with the food and speed of service. Maybe we were just lucky but my friend's coffee was on the table before I'd had a chance to walk back from the bar after ordering it. A huge contrast from its near rival at The Thames Court in Shepperton - which should be avoided unless you like standing in queues forr entertainment. I don't.

The Weir is an enjoyable place for an occasional visit.

The William Cobbett, Farnham

As a 50-something , I brought a coachload of similarly aged friends to see Wishbone Ash at The Maltings next door. So assume that we are all pretty dull and boring - but we do like a good pub. Anyway we all thought that this was a truly GREAT pub - brilliant atmosphere, good music, good staff, plenty of interesting people to talk to. I remember this place from my under-age drinking days, and if anything it has improved over the last 30+
years. Should be preserved as a national treasure! PS Wishbone Ash got a pretty good rating too

The New Inn, Send

Having read the other reviews, I expected rather more from this pub than it delivered. It seemed to be more of a restaurant with bar attached than a pub. Quiet (almost hushed) atmosphere. My elderly (80+)parents would like it because there would be little chance of them getting over-excited.

I would give it 6/10, except for commmercial radio (I don't listen to adverts and dumb DJs when I'm at home and see no reason why I should be forced to pay for the 'privelege' when in a pub. So 5/10 only
