The Prince Of Wales, Cheam
My wife and I are fairly new to the district and having tried several pubs in the Cheam area discovered the Prince of Wales in the run-up to Xmas last year.
We both had a couple of drinks at the bar(good choice of wines and beers reasonably priced)and then decided to have lunch as the menu looked comprehensive and inviting.
Food arrived quickly and served hot (and actually served on hot plates something of a rarity in pubs I find)and came with a smile and "enjoy your lunch".This might seem a tad old-fashioned but personally I like courtesy and friendliness particularly when it is so obviously well meant.
We had a spectacular dessert and finished with some nice fresh coffee again a rarity in pubs nowadays.
The owner and his wife Phil and Julie both had time for a quick chat to see if we enjoyed our meal and came across as nice friendly folk genuinely interested to see that we both had a pleasant time.
My wife and I have both been back several times since at different times of the day and have never found the bar staff and owners less than friendly and courteous and always ready for a quick chat no matter how busy they might be.
I would personally thoroughly recommend the Prince of Wales for the huge selection of drinks quality interesting menu reasonably priced and above all delivered with a smile and friendly attitude making you feel very welcome indeed.
In other words exactly what a good pub should be but rarely is in my wide experience.
