You will need big pockets or a VISA Gold card to eat and drink at the Cwellyn Arms. A pint of Staropramen was �4.50, pint of soda water was �2.00. Steak and chips was �17. Desserts were �5.95. If you can stomach the overpriced food, small portions, rude, unfriendly Landlord, and long wait for the food then you won�t mind being a tourist getting fleeced in this pub. No doubt he needs to charge these prices to run his battered up Daimler that is parked outside. Most of the items were off the Menu. No Lamb for the Sunday Roast Dinner was a big disappointment. After all you come to Wales expecting some lamb! Be warned - the prices on the typical menu on their website, are not typical of what you will pay in the pub!
The Cellwyn Arms is the only pub in the village of Rhyd Ddu. No locals seem to drink in the pub. Hardly surprising as most of the village has now been turned over to holiday homes.
Shame really given the beautiful location. After one visit you will not want to go back to the Cwellyn Arms.
This place is a tourist trap, with extortionate prices.
