Good looking pub, recently refurbished, eaten there twice both times by the new owners who are keen to impress.
Food average to good, prices normal for pubs. Beer selection for ale drinkers is interesting, its got TEA and another real ale of which name escapes me but my Dad went back for another so it must have been good. Nice atmosphere

Well I am keeping my rating at a 7. This is the first time I have been back since it got refurbished, and I was slightly unsettled by the reviews previously posted. Nearly went to the george but then saw the reviews weren't much better ... will probably pop down the george later this year.
So I was out celebrating my new job with my wife.
The overall price for us was 45 which was a shared (normal size) starter, a main course each, and a shared choccy fudge dessert, 1 glass of wine and 2 pints of stella, and a cappuccino (which was pretty ok(being a coffee snob)) including tip.
Starter came fairly quickly and was average, main courses took about 15 mins after starters, but were very good, and dessert was nice. Stella was very fresh and wife was satisfied by the wine.
It was quite busy, a thursday evening with about 2-3 tables unoccupied (@8.30pm). Most of the customers were probably professional/city commuters or middle aged/retired age. So probably mainly 30+. People dressed smarter than your average pub.
Left feeling quite satisfied, toilets ok, not cleanest but good quality nevertheless.
Didn't notice anyone around getting annoyed or bad service, and I suspect the lamp by the serving door which switches on and off is actually a secret signal to say when the food is ready. (I forgot to ask tho....)
The staff were actually better than average / very good in service. I am sucker for service and I didn't have to wait long to catch the eye of anyone.
