Since finding beer in the evening it has given me head up on pubs I didnt know about this being a second, Reason I didnt know about it as beer and Cheer stated is outside the town centre..I drove and found it on a housing estate back end of town. I was told it didnt win the carma st helens pub of the year this year The beers are changed when the barrel is empty and not continued from the same pump so if you where having a good pint you may well go up to find that one gone and another one being offered from the same pump. I would prefer continuation of at least some beer something they should do when they have I think it was 12 hand pumps on which leads me to wonder why with such a good choice they didnt win st helens camra pub of the year I believe its to do with beer scoring from camra members who judge the beer and the ship at rainhill won the award I only had chance to try two halves as I was driving and unfortunately when I left the pub I found my drivers side window had been smashed. there where some youths hanging around the housing estate and I did feel uneasy. If this pub was in a different location with its own car park I would visit again but due to my experience of the area I would not go again

Olde England thanks for the heads up Carlurmston as I didnt know this pub existed as its on the other side of the towncentre to where we normally shop .This is a great little place over looked from the outside with its terrace front on the main road but once you step in you will be sure of a warm welcome and a decent pint the real ale very well kept and now up to 3 pumps and at 2 a pint good value The Mrs found some fruit wines on sale and some strange wines too nettle and dandelion? It was like stepping back in time a most enjoyable experience we will be back again

The Albion Inn, Chester
So dissapointed! Would not reccomend or return. No real ale on at all when we went pump clips just turend around (Wednesday 6pm) Tables mostly set up for food with place mats and cutlery left us shoved in a corner. Staff where both having there evening meal when we got there and not too happy about leaving it to serve us, don't know why they could of ate just before opening? Whole place smelt of food we asked was braised steak and onions to the barmaid she said no it wasn't we asked what it was she said dont know but its not that (Although it was on the menu!) Their hostile attitude made us hurry our drink and leave and at 10 for plate of corned beef hash we didnt miss out. I dont know if things like "Jamie Oliver loves us" and "these oat cakes are as seen on food programme" is supposed to impress us but it is not an actual award for food is it just some poor attempt at trying to impress, in fact I didnt see any awards up cask marque camra good beer guide The only signs of when it was good appear in old stickers in the window from 2002 (10 years ago now hardly relevant now!) It is sitting back on what used to be and If this pub doesnt pull its act together it will be like a dinosaur and become extinct as much better is to be found in Chester now.
