The Pub, Leicester

I'm not really a regular, but pass this place time to time. As you approach 'The Pub,' it is a little unassuming from its appearance that it actually is a pub. It is located next to a burger bar and slightly adrift from the gut churning 'Revolution' or 'Revos' as it is known by the mindless youths that stagger from it. Inside, it is not what you would call contemporary decor, or classically pub themed, therefore, layout and presentation is not 'The Pubs' strong point. Few sofas scattered with tables and chairs which look like garden furniture combined with hideous red paint disappoint the look of this place. I think the Landlord needs to rethink his idea of styling. To 'The Pubs' credit, there is a nicely laid out bar area, with 15 hand pumps mainly from respectable local breweries, all regularly changing, a little cold for my liking, but in O.K condition. There is a good selection of lagers, fruit beers, Belgiums, Paulaner and Duvel Green on Draught. There were a few nice bar staff who knew about their beer, but recently I believe they have left and been replaced by less knowledgeable and somewhat rude staff. Last time I went there some God awful Ska music playing. I really think the idea and concept of the place has a real sweet spot, which Leicester could really do with, but this place can be a little 'Hit and Miss.'
