The Rising Sun enjoys a fine position at the top of a hill with great views across the Wiltshire levels. There's a lovely large garden outside in which to enjoy a drink. Inside, the pub is stone-floored with wooden beams and an open fireplace with a large conservatory at the back to accommodate diners.
The pub serves real-ale from Melksham's Mole's brewery which is always in good condition. Sadly, I can't recommend the food as my last experience was very disappointing with stale bread and rather off-hand service. Perhaps the management is becoming a little complacent because of the natural advantages the pub enjoys?
