Been to this pub twice now and it's a pretty decent pub. Nice ambience and good, though unspectacular, pint. However, had the misfortune to go in for an after- work pint during one of the World Cup matches, as the pub had an advertising board outside. Imagine my disappointment when they arbitrarily decided to shout last orders at 10.25pm, and had shut up shop by 10.40. The match was still in play (and went to extra time) but I was informed that they were closing early on Mondays due to neighbour noise complaints. Then advertise this rather than give a false expectation! Or just turn the tv down a bit and ask for a bit of customer co-operation Everyone inside was pretty calm). Disappointingly had to try to find an alternative mid-match. Pretty poor customer service I think. A shame because the area cries out for a decent pub.

My friend Miles and I are the only Derby fans in here. Remains pretty friendly and the beer is decent. 3 beers on and have tried 2 which are properly decent. Considering it's match night we're pretty comfortable and would recommend to other footie fans. Not a top, top joint but friendly and safe, with decent beer

Just remembered I owe this place a slating. Organised a training day with my team so that I could drag them from Waterloo to this pub afterwards, citing it's ambience and proximity to the river. On arrival I looked at the selection of four real ales. I was disappointed that my preferred option was off so elected another. I was told that they had no real ales, but was offered a bottle of Black Sheep from the fridge. I apologised profusely to all. I still enjoy the small balcony out back, and it was a nice day, so no complaint there. One of our group was late so we felt obliged to have another. This time Miss Disinterested told me they had run out of all ales, even bottled! Had a Guinness and left. Ian McKellen; if this is your plaything, please do not ruin it for those who used to enjoy it or live nearby.
