The George Inn, Egerton
strange pub this..the pub itself is a fantastic country pub in a lovely setting with no real competition around it it has a nice enough atmosphere, excellent for families and could be a gold mine if it put into the right hands.. after visiting a number of times i cant help but feel it could be so much more and its being held back somehow...myself and my girlfriend have eaten there each time we have visited and up until this last weekend(27th febuary) the food and service has always been spot on and perfect...this time unfourtunately the meal was sub standard and poorly presented the service wasnt cheery or welcoming and we felt it lacked its usual flair and flavour...we will be back in the hope that this was just a bad weekend or maybe the chef was away..having said that the bar staff are welcoming it has a lovely feel in the bar with the fires going and is very cosy, better to eat in the bar as the feel to the restaraunt can be a little straight backed and formal,
i do however love the pub,the food normally is superb, the staff are friendly and the feel is cosy,no lager louts or power drinkers makes for a pleasant evening, we wont be letting 1 bad experiance mar our return but i just feel it could be so much more if they found some identity to the pub and remembered it is a kentish country pub and not a cheap restaraunt, and then worked from there.....
